TP BREAKS DOWN OFFENSE

Offensive Contribution

Each player contributes to the outcome of a hockey game on a play by play basis. When a player, or one of his teammates, has the puck, they try to create an offensive advantage. The general intent, regardless of where the puck starts, is to move the puck safely towards and into the opposition goal. They achieve this by making offensive PLAYS.

Using the TRUPERFORMANCE Index (TPI), offensive plays are systematically graded on a scale with a range of positive to negative scores.

A positive offensive play creates an advantage for (OFF +), whereas a negative offensive play creates a disadvantage (OFF -). The degree of the advantage created is reflected in the weighted score for each play. These weighted scores are added up and each player receives an offensive contribution score.

(OFF +) + (OFF -) = OFFENSIVE CONTRIBUTION

Each play is analyzed independently. All of the surrounding gameplay variables are considered, collected, and categorized. Some of those variables include the game situation of the play (ie. Break Out, Rush Attack, Offensive Zone Play, etc.); the skills used to make the play (ie. Protect, Evade, Carry, Backhand Pass, etc.); and the location of the play. All of these add up to generate part of a unique Offensive Player Profile. Combining these Player Profiles produces an Offensive Team Profile.
